All of the above is indisputably true of Trump and his followers, but the worrying thing is the latter half of Daniel 2:25. What Trump has promised to do to immigrants, including ‘legals’ in the US, is utterly reprehensible—especially when we remember that in his first tenure as president, he separated children from their parents in a concentration camp-style system. His second tenure will likely ‘destroy many lives without warning.’ This isn’t in dispute because, like Hitler, Trump made immigrants central to his election propaganda. But chillingly, this is very much the behaviour predicted of the Antichrist. One can only hope and pray that ‘destroying lives’ only means bussing immigrants to the border and releasing them…

When Trump died.

‘I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marvelled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast.’ Revelation 13:3 (NLT)

‘Wounded beyond recovery’ or ‘wounded to death’ (KJV). That counts Trump out, right? I mean, the only real attempt on his life was one where the bullet merely clipped his ear, but it was an event that caused middle America to look on in awe and wonder at the miracle of his survival, his defiance, and his “fight, fight, fight”. No. In the prophetic world of John the Apostle, Nostradamus, Baba Vanga, et al., penning visions is an art fraught with complications—not least interpreting the images before you. Like peering into the sea at a sunken treasure ship, the glints and shimmers of what might be down there are open to speculation and interpretation.

Could it be that John the Apostle was referencing the dramatic events surrounding Trump’s first presidency and his subsequent ‘death’ as a political leader? If you interpret 13:3 through this lens, then Trump’s return to the presidency can be seen as nothing short of a miraculous return from the dead. Indeed, newspapers such as The Hindustan Times and Le Monde described his victory as ‘miraculous.’ Through the ‘third eye’ of John the Apostle, this reverberation through time—perhaps a prophetic weave distorted by the gunshot to Trump’s head—may have read like an actual death and resurrection. It is beyond doubt, however, that the ‘world has marvelled/wondered at this miracle’—at Trump’s impossible return from oblivion.

A detail we can’t ignore is that the beast was prophesied to have two heads. Given that no visionary would be crazy enough to describe a believable leader of people as having a double-headed, presumably dragon-like appearance, isn’t it more plausible that this is a reference to the Antichrist being two-faced? A barefaced liar who masquerades as a God-fearing all-American patriot, and a second persona who cares only for himself. The one that was wounded on July 13th 2024 (by one of his own gun-toting supporters, btw) being the gullible-voter-facing one ‘that came wrapped in a flag and wearing a cross’ (pretends to wear a cross in Trump’s case).

Clearly, soothsayers use allegories to express their predictions, with the occasional dart landing on the fringes of the bulls-eye. So the fantastical image of ‘the beast’ dying then reviving is almost certainly not a literal death, but rather a metaphorical one, and Trump’s political death and return certainly fits that bill. But has this happened before? Have there been other instances of ‘political annihilation and resurrection’ ? Individuals for whom a speculative article like this could have been written if only through the lens of a miraculous return? The answer is yes.

The list includes Grover Cleveland, Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, Richard Nixon, Deng Xiaoping and Napoleon Bonaparte. Cleveland was a conscientious president, Churchill—whilst sometimes viewed as a controversial figure—saved Europe from tyranny alongside France’s hero de Gaulle, Nixon was at worst corrupt, only Xiaoping could be described as having a ‘mixed-legacy’ but lifted millions out of poverty, leaving Bonaparte as the most controversial ‘back from the dead’ contenders.

Bonaparte however, a) did most of his ‘evil deeds’  during his ‘first life’, not his second as clearly implied by the biblical texts about the Antichrist and b) is recognised as one of Nostradamus’s picks for his three Antichrist-like figures (the second being Hitler, who whilst surviving several assassination attempts cannot be described as having ‘come back from the dead’ as far as the biblical predictions are concerned)—meaning that if we combine the Biblical narrative with Nostradamus’s narrative, the vacancy for the Antichrist is still very much up for grabs and that none of the other ‘resurrected’ leaders fitted the bill*. 

Lastly to add, that 13:3 specifically mentions that ‘The whole world marvelled at this miracle…’ (of the fatal wound being healed), and that simply cannot be said of any of the leaders on the above list—simply because the world has only relatively recently become truly connected, where most everyone can get the news from everywhere in an instant. So, for Donald Trump, his return from oblivion has literally been viewed by the whole world and with jaws dropped.

The text does go on to say that the ‘world … gave allegiance to the beast’. If this is meant to mean that the people of America agree to let Trump lead as is correct and constitutional, or that other world leaders** acknowledge the authority of his leadership—then fine. But ‘allegiance to the beast’ seems to imply that ‘the WHOLE world ’ gives allegiance, and I for one can assure you that definitely hasn’t happened yet.

*Noting, that it simply couldn’t be argued of anyone on this list that they unquestionably fulfil ALL (some, not all) of the other criteria used by the bible to define the Antichrist: The lawlessness, the deceptiveness, the charisma, the narcissism, the arrogance, the wickedness, the blasphemies, the desire for worship, the hate, the lies, the two faces etc etc. Donald Trump, and importantly the timing of his arrival (wars, rumours of wars, disease, famine, drought/climate change), seems to tick very nearly ALL of the boxes.

For those thinking it, I'll add that whilst Vladimir Putin could also be included on the list of contenders for Antichrist based on the above (it could be said that he had a sort of political death and rebirth after all), but Trump’s charisma and popularity are more in tune with the biblical prophecies than Putin’s; Putin has practically no charisma and by all accounts is as deeply unpopular in Russia as he is around the world, and certainly has no support from ‘God’s people’.

**The stark contrast between Trump and other world leaders is impossible to ignore. At the recent reopening of the magnificent Notre-Dame de Paris—marking his symbolic return to the global stage—Trump scowled throughout the proceedings, exuding an air of arrogant ‘out-of-place-ed-ness’. His presence felt unnatural (I’m tempted to say ‘supernatural’) and about as welcome as Arnold Palmer’s tumescence unexpectedly appearing at a phalanxophobic crisis centre meeting. An analogy Trump himself will appreciate.

If you aren’t convinced of my analysis by now, I have a fascinating (forgive the pun) trump card to play. A box you likely didn’t know was available for ticking. Did you know that the Bible also allows us to speculate about a second ‘deceiver’?

‘Then I saw another beast come up out of the earth. He had two horns like those of a lamb, but he spoke with the voice of a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast. And he required all the earth and its people to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. He did astounding miracles, even making fire flash down to earth from the sky while everyone was watching.’ Revelation 13:11-13 (NLT)

A lot to deconstruct here. Not least the idea of there being TWO beasts—an Antichrist (the first) and a ‘false prophet’, a sort of beast’s cheerleader, a Himmler to Hitler, if you will. Intriguingly, this character is also portrayed as having powers and two horns, which we can reasonably assume means two personalities or personas (see above).

Given the Himmler/Hitler comparison, one might think of the hateful VP J.D. Vance as being the second beast. There is no doubt that he would wedge his head up Trump’s sofa-sized posterior if given the grace to do so, but recent history may have presented us with a much more viable option—one so rich he has global reach, and whose wealth allows him to exercise ‘all the authority of the first beast’. What’s more, he has LITERALLY performed at least one truly ‘astounding miracle’ recently, where ‘fire flashed down to earth from the sky while everyone was watching’ in the form of one of his SpaceX booster rockets, that was caught by a massive arm. That’s right—caught.
